You’ve noticed you or your child are struggling with attention and concentration. Maybe you are wondering if ADHD might explain what’s happening and if an evaluation is the next step. Does any of this sound familiar?
The school called again. Your child’s grades are dropping. The teacher mentions they don’t seem to be paying attention during class; they fidget, talk with friends, look around the room, and get out of their seats. Things will be even worse if you don’t check their work and assignments! It’s a battle to get them to do homework. They complain and can’t stay focused, but that’s just half the battle. You still have to make sure they turn their homework in!
Things at home are a struggle, too. You can’t expect them to complete a task after telling them something once. You have to say to them two, three, or four times AND still double-check to ensure they did it. They constantly need something to keep them busy. They always leave a trail of items that reveal where they’ve been. Trying to keep up with them and keep your sanity simultaneously is exhausting! You wish things weren’t a battle for every single thing, every day.
You can’t shut your brain off and never really get anything done because you jump from one thing to another. There’s so much to do, but starting a task is overwhelming. Everything piling up makes you feel constantly stressed and stuck in an endless cycle. People joke about you continually being late or losing things. You worry people think you are flakey. Rejection sensitivity is intense.

You’ve tried strategies to stay on top of things but never seem to stick with them for long. Eventually, you find yourself rushing to finish yet another project in the nick of time or realize after it’s too late that you forgot to turn something in. You constantly blame yourself and feel like things will never get better. You feel stuck.
At GBHC, our comprehensive ADHD evaluations assess multiple areas of psychological functioning to get a complete picture of how your child is functioning. Think of the evaluation process as a puzzle. We gather various pieces of information and use each piece to form a complete picture of what’s going on to help you better understand how you or your child’s strengths, weaknesses, personality characteristics, environmental factors, and relationships are impacting day-to-day life.
Our evaluations are comprehensive and assess for other mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, learning disorders, or autism, which may be contributing to your challenges as well. Therefore, our evaluations do not just assess for ADHD! We aim to prevent misdiagnosis so we can provide the appropriate recommendations for your needs. Many times, people suffer from more than one mental health condition, so the evaluation will also help you understand how different challenges may interact with each other.
Let’s think of the evaluation as a puzzle. We need to gather multiple pieces of information to have a complete picture of you or your child at the end of the process. There are various steps in the process, some happening “behind the scenes.”
At the end of the evaluation, we aim to put the pieces together so you better understand yourself or your child. The pieces come together, and things start to make sense. You aren’t grasping for straws anymore because you know how certain behaviors link together and why they happen.
You know why, and now you have a map to help you navigate your journey moving forward. The recommendation section of the report will connect you with medical and therapeutic services, provide strategies to use at home, identify ways to obtain accommodations at work or school, resources to learn more about ADHD or other diagnoses, and valuable tools in your daily life.
Pricing is straightforward. The cost of the evaluation is $2500. This fee includes everything! There are no hidden costs or charges!
We split the cost between three payments over several weeks. Your first payment is due at the time of scheduling to reserve your appointment. The second payment is due at the in-person testing appointment, and the third is due at the final feedback session.
The easiest way to schedule your evaluation is to book a free consultation call. During this call, we will gather some basic information, discuss your needs, answer any questions you might have, and book your appointment. We will schedule your initial interview and in-person testing appointments on this call. We will schedule the final feedback session during your in-person testing appointment. You can also call the office; we will return your call as soon as possible.
We do not currently accept any insurance for assessments. Sliding fee assessments are offered when slots become available. If you are interested in applying for a sliding fee assessment slot, please contact our office for an application. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Our office can also provide a superbill to submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits.
We do a variety of testing measures, but they vary from person to person. Generally, our evaluations include cognitive (IQ), learning, executive functioning, and social-emotional assessments. We do not include CPT measures, such as the Connors CPT or IVA-2, and we do not rely on one measure in our evaluations to diagnose. Each measure is a piece of the puzzle.
Our office does not maintain a waitlist. New assessment clients are usually scheduled within approximately 4-6 weeks from the time they contact our office for their first appointment.
Problems with attention and concentration are symptoms of several different mental health conditions, not just ADHD. ADHD also can present with other mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. An evaluation will help clarify diagnoses, help you understand how your symptoms impact you, and provide personalized recommendations. This ultimately helps improve your mental health by recommending appropriate treatment and medical care.
Our ADHD evaluations are appropriate for children (ages 4+) and adults. Typically, we do not diagnose ADHD for children under five, as therapy or behavioral interventions are the best option for younger children.
Evaluations can be done virtually for individuals 16 or older who live more than 90 minutes outside St. Louis. During a consultation call, our office will ask questions to determine if a virtual assessment is appropriate based on your comfort level with technology and internet connection.
If you’ve already had an evaluation and are seeking a second opinion, we can also help with this! We may ask for some information from the previous assessment to ensure our evaluation validly reflects your symptoms and current functioning. Unfortunately, misdiagnosis occurs, but our goal is to eliminate confusion and help you access the right treatments!
